Reflection
I decided to choose this assignment to publish to my ePortfolio, because I felt like it better conveyed what I had learned in my Psychology 1010 class. It felt more like a college paper would feel, in the style, and the word choice. I really enjoyed watching this video and found it very fascinating. I thought that this was going to be a video where I would struggle to stay awake watching, but it really wasn't I learned so much about the concepts that it explained, for example Groupthink. Groupthink is where people just go along with what everybody else is saying if even if they have their reserves about it, because they think that everybody else will go along with the idea.
I feel like this assignment demonstrated my knowledge of the SLCC Learning goals, because I had to communicate my thoughts about the video and what I learned while watching it. My major is Criminal Justice, so I choose this video because it seemed to be the one most in-line with my major, and I was amazed at how much I actually learned about how criminals could be persuaded to change the way they saw an action/activity if the incentive was sufficient enough. This video caused me to think critically about the ways the human mind could be manipulated to have a certain thought drive a person to make a decision that goes along with a thought someone else may have put there. Like when I mentioned the Pearl Harbor attack and how we were warned beforehand but yet we did nothing about because so many people said that Japan would be foolish if they attacked such a strong country. I do believe that if asked to convey what I learned from this video I would be able to properly show exactly what I have learned and how interesting the human brain is, because we change a person’s memory, but giving them an incentive that is sufficient enough to warrant that change.
